It goes on over a shirt and gives you a finished shape straight away — closer through the chest, narrow at the waist, with nothing pulling when you reach across a table. The suede hand is soft enough that you forget there is a second layer there at all. Armholes sit high, so the waistcoat stays put when the jacket comes off.

Five-Button Front That Lengthens the Torso The stance runs high and finishes low, which draws the eye down the body. It also keeps the shirt disciplined underneath, with no bunching at the waistband.

Two Working Side Pockets for Keys and Cards Both pockets open properly, so you can leave your jacket on the back of a chair and still carry what you need.

Tailored Fit Through the Chest It is cut close without gripping, so you can sit through a long dinner and stand up without adjusting anything.

Soft Suede-Hand Face With a Smooth Lining The face has a fine brushed nap that catches light softly and holds colour evenly, with very little give across the grain. The back is cut in a smooth lining and finished with an adjustable buckle strap, so the waist can be drawn in to sit flat.

Wear it over a white shirt with dark wool trousers, or open across a knit for a quieter weekend version.
