A mid-length coat cut to sit just above the knee, long enough to cover a jacket without swamping the frame. The houndstooth check is woven in a dark plaid that reads almost solid from a distance. Inside, a quilted polyester lining adds real thickness, so this holds up through a January commute. The regular fit leaves room for a jumper underneath and still closes cleanly.

Mid Length That Covers a Suit Jacket The hem falls below the seat, so tailoring underneath stays uncreased and the line of the coat stays unbroken as you walk.

Side Seam Pockets That Stay Flat Set into the side seams rather than patched on, they take keys and gloves without breaking the clean front of the coat.

Straight Hem for an Even Line The hem runs level all the way round, which keeps the coat hanging square whether it is buttoned or left open.

Woollen-Handle Cloth With a Quilted Lining The face cloth is a brushed woollen-handle fabric in polyester, dense and matte with very little stretch, and the quilted polyester lining is what gives it genuine winter weight. It sits closer to the structured end of car coats than the soft drape of a wax coat, so the shoulder keeps its shape through the day.

Wear it over a crew-neck jumper with dark trousers and leather boots, or straight over a suit for colder working weeks.
