The forward pleats release just above the thigh, so there is room to stride between meetings and still sit out a long review without the front pulling. A fine stripe runs the length of the leg and keeps the line reading long and straight. Side adjusters take the waist in or out a touch, which matters by the eighth hour at a desk. They hang as cleanly at six as they did at nine.

Wear them with a white poplin shirt and dark leather derbies; a fine-gauge knit takes them through the colder months.
